the “pool” parties are back
every summer for the past 3 years, jellynyc has put on sunday pool parties at mccarren park in brooklyn. last year, they had deerhunter, matt & kim, the hold steady, and a bunch more amazing bands. and it was free.
the deal was that there was some sort of (unorganized) rsvp list, and you had to get there early. once you got in, though, there was booze, dodgeball, and a slip & slide.
last year, i was in nyc on the weekend that mgmt was playing. needless to say, not going to that is one of the biggest regrets of my entire life.
this year, they’re moving the pool parties to the east state water park on the williamsburg waterfront…wherever that is. for 8 straight (FREE!) sundays! and pitchfork says they’re replacing the slip & slides with kiddie pools. heres the schedule:
