ryan gosling lands record deal, gets one step closer to achieving perfection

ryan gosling and zach shields met 4 years ago. ryan was dating rachel mcadams (r.i.p. greatest celebrity couple ever), and zach was dating her sister. through their mutual love for spooky musical theater (?!?), dead man’s bones was born.

according to pitchfork, the duo had originally planned on releasing their debut alum on their own record label, werewolf heart, but it was announced today that, on october 6th, anti- will put out dead man’s bones.

the album was recorded with some 5 to 17 year old Los Angeles residents known as the silverlake conservatory children’s choir. ryan so eloquently explains their reasoning:

“You know when you’re a kid and you get crayons and papers and just draw whatever you want and it’s just a bunch of messy lines, but to you it makes sense, and then they put it on the fridge? From that point on, you’re always trying to get back on the fridge, you start drawing things that look like something, like, the more it looks like a horse, the more chance you have of getting it on the fridge. We wanted to get back to that place before we were trying to make the fridge. We wanted to work with people who hadn’t been affected in that way yet.”

here’s what theyve released so far. this is “in the room where you sleep.”

does anyone else find this to be a little reminiscent of the dracula opera in forgetting sarah marshall? or “monster mash”? the next one’s “name in stone.” it’spretty fanfarlo-ish:

i dont think this music is really all that great, but for ryan gosling, i’ll tolerate it. and i’ll probably even buy it.
