country music rules.

i’m watching the cma’s right now, and i can’t help but wonder why people hate country music so much. obviously, being a texan, i probably have had more exposure to it since i was young than compared to, for example, someone who grew up in the northeast. i definitely don’t listen to it as much as i used to…usually only during the summers, but it still holds a special place in my heart.

i mean, take this award show. people like george strait, brooks & dunn, reba mcintyre are still up for awards tonight, and they’ve been around for years and years and years. they still put out albums that are musically and culturally relevant and are respected and recognized for their creative output. these aren’t pity nominations.

maybe this means this genre is particularly hard to break into, but there are plenty of new artists coming out of the woodwork every year too. i’m also blown away at how tight this community seems to be. everyone is so supportive of each other, and you rarely hear about feuds and catfights.

i guess some people argue that country music requires less skill than other types of music, which may or may not be true, but have you seen brad paisley play?! there are some really, really talented country musicians out there that simply do not get the credit they deserve because they play country music. laaaaame.

ummm i just saw a commercial for a show on abc called “find my family” that i guess helps reunite long-lost families? why is this a tv show? i am not okay with this. (and by this, i mean televising private family moments. of course im okay with children looking for their birth parents. i’m not a monster. most of the time.)

ANYWAY, i just wanted to rant about how unique the country music industry is. obviously, i love it alot. especially awards show.

oh, dave matthews just took the stage with kenny chesney! kenny sounds really, really terrible. but DAAAAAVE!!!!!!!!!!!
