nl trumps al in musical entertainment.

i think we’re all aware of the RICH and intertwined history of baseball and music. in fact, i witnessed this last season in person, and it was an experience i’ll surely never forget, even if i tried.

anyway, at yesterday’s nlcs game 4, ben gibbard sang the national anthem, and wifey zooey deschanel sang “god bless america” during the 7th inning streeeeetch. (hat tip to our nation’s capitol’s greatest deputy press secretary)

man, they are great.

but come on, get it together, american league! patrick wilson doing “god bless america”? that is literally the last thing i wanted to see! many of you might not know who patrick wilson is. i’m sure he has had a very fruitful acting career, but nothing can justify his role in hard candy, which i was unfortunately subjected to recently. this trailer does not even do justice to the actual creepiness factor of this movie…in which castration plays too large of a role in the plot.
