2010: the playlist, part iv

the conclusion of my year-end favorite tracks list (finally).

go back and read parts i, ii, and iii.

i’d like to point out these top 5 were impossible to rank. there is almost no distinction in rank between them. let’s just say that they’re all my favorite song of 2010.

5. “the ghost inside”- broken bells

similar to mgmt’s break out in 2008, i was able to introduce many of my friends to james mercer and danger mouse with this dance-y track.

4. “white sky”- vampire weekend

there is nothing to not like about this song; it’s practically perfect in every way like mary poppins.

3. “slavedriver”- jenny and johnny

the title and the fact that j&j are a real-life couple say all you need to know about this one.

2. “older”- band of horses

is this monsters of folk?

1. “laura”- mates of state

kori and jason put a bubblegum pop spin on a girls song about the aftermath of a breakup.
